"Serenity is 35 liters of chimichurri." 🥰
Today was our third Coffee Club Barcelona Meetup - a new club that I started to bring together high-vibe, high-quality strangers for a coffee and a walk around the neighborhood here.
Our conversation starter today was "what is 'serenity?'" We certainly have a lot of examples lately to point to of all the things that serenity *is not. But here's some of what I heard for what it is:
"Serenity is feeling a sense of completion. I have so much going on. I wish that I had things that were finished."
"Presence. Savoring the moment."
"Enjoying the future that past me created and wanted for myself. I wanted to live in Europe and have a partner. Now I have both."
"Yeah, living 100% in the moment."
"My mom has 35 liters of chimichurri at her house right now."
"Serenity is 35 liters of chimichurri."
Ok - yes.
Serenity is definitely 35 liters of chimichurri.
Why does this resonate so much with me? I have theories:
- Chimichurri is outrageously delicious.
- Choosing to acquire said chimichurri shows you have excellent taste in salsas.
- Producing 35 liters of chimichurri reveals that you had enough time to throw on a good playlist and chop up piles of herbs, hopefully in excellent company.
- Having 35 liters of chimichurri at your house suggests that you are hosting many people soon. See excellent company point above.
- Holding onto such an abundant amount of chimichurri shows supreme confidence in being able to finish such a large amount in a short period of time, as it contains fresh herbs.
- Enjoying chimichurri is actually nourishing and good for you.
- Chimichurri is a beloved staple in Argentina, Uruguay, and throughout Latin America, with thousands (millions?) of variations and coveted family recipes.
To me: chimichurri is one of those little joyful flourishes, that essential, spicy, herbaceous yum that makes a dish brighter.
But 35 liters of it? That's almost too much to imagine.
Serenity is a bit like that too. It's simple comfort, yet in the mix of everything else you've got going on, it's bold. Full. Rebellious, even.
I wish you chimichurri.
35 liters of chimichurri.
Love,
Jenna
