Sunday evening I had some friends over for dinner. We all were in the middle of a great conversation over piles of bright red rigatoni and pistachio shells, flickering tea lights.
Then - the power in my apartment cut out.
A quick look out the window confirmed that my entire neighborhood was blanketed in darkness.
After some phone flashlights, rummaging through my closet for a headlamp, and grabbing some blankets we piled onto the sofa together and continued our chat there.
It felt a lot like how snow days in Chicago felt like when I was a kid. An unexpected and happy deviation from the norm. Camping inside.
Open time.
Our conversation shifted too - it became slower, as if we all were sitting around a fire.
I’ve been diving back into that feeling today.
Love,
Jenna
